Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (CED)
The Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (CED) was established by the Pakistan Association of the Deaf (PAD) to provide high-quality, accessible education and professional development opportunities for Deaf children and youth across Pakistan. CED is built on the principle of empowering Deaf individuals through inclusive education, sign language proficiency, and skill-based learning so they can live independent, confident, and productive lives.
The main CED campus is located in Korangi, Mehran Town, Karachi, with a covered area of 240 yards. The building comprises a Basement, Ground Floor, and First Floor, and additional floors may be added as needed. The facility is fully furnished and ready for a wide range of educational and training activities.
CED offers comprehensive services including:
- Pre-Primary , Primary and Secondary Education
- Vocational training such as Tailoring, Embroidery, Cooking, Basic Computer Skills, Graphic Designing, Computer Hardware, and Mobile Repairing.
- Pakistani Sign Language (PSL) Interpreter Courses
The project primarily supports underprivileged Deaf students who cannot afford school fees, books, stationery, and other educational expenses. Donors may sponsor one or more children, with the average cost per child per month being Rs. 15,000. PAD provides complete information about each sponsored child at the time of sponsorship, along with annual educational progress reports.
Expansion of CED in Interior Sindh
To extend quality Deaf education to underserved rural communities, PAD has expanded the CED project to four branches across Interior Sindh. These branches are located in:
- Garhi Khairo, District Jacobabad
- Dodapur, District Jacobabad
- Zahro Brohi, District Shahdadkot
- Qubo Saeed Khan, District Shahdadkot
These branches ensure that Deaf children in remote areas have access to education, sign language development, and skill-building opportunities within their own communities.
PAD’s Vision Through CED
PAD remains committed to empowering the Deaf community of Pakistan. Through the CED project, PAD aims to identify talented Deaf individuals, enhance their capabilities, and provide opportunities for advanced learning by connecting them with high-quality institutions and training programs. Our goal is to help Deaf individuals become skilled, independent citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society.
We invite supporters and donors to join us in strengthening the future of Deaf education through the Centre of Excellence for the Deaf.
