Deaf Madrassa
The Pakistan Association of the Deaf (PAD) is distinguished by its unique expertise in developing sign language vocabulary that reflects the full range of words used within the Deaf community. One of PAD’s most significant contributions is its leadership in Islamic education for Deaf individuals. PAD is the first institution in Pakistan to introduce a structured initiative through which Deaf students can learn Islam, including religious concepts, Islamic terminology, and Quranic verses, in Pakistan Sign Language (PSL).
Through this initiative, PAD has translated Quranic verses and Surahs into sign language, ensuring that Deaf students gain direct and meaningful access to religious knowledge. These educational videos are shared weekly across PAD’s all social media platforms so that the wider Deaf community can benefit from this valuable resource.
